Chapter 6 & 11 Responses
Chapter 6
Based on the chapter in the book, I would definitely not like to teach in a classroom that uses a lot of digital technologies. I think computers are great for certain aspects, but there are many other ways to teach a class. I actually plan taking my class outside to learn specific lessons, such as the weather and climate. I understand that society is moving towards a very technology friendly future, but I want to remind my class about the simple days where no one had computers or scanners or iPads. It's good to remind the kids of the past and where they came from.
Chapter 11
Traditional Audio: Audiocassettes are a traditional use of audio technology. Basically, one uses them to read stories out loud. In my class, I would use this cassette in work stations that have the children do; especially for those learning to read.
Emerging Audio: The internet radio is an emerging technology that can be used in a multitude of ways. In my classroom, for example, I would use the Internet radio to put music on while students are doing journal entries or something at their desk.
Traditional Visual: Recorded videos (VHS) are a popular form of traditional technology. In my classroom, I will use the VHS to show educational movies that are older, however more accurate than the new ones on DVD.
Emerging Visual: Digital video cameras are emerging visual aids. I will have the children make a movie based on a Shakespeare play, for example, Romeo & Juliet.
